The Facts about Dementia....

It May Be More Than Forgetfulness

Many older people worry about becoming forgetful.  In the past, memory loss and confusion were considered a normal part of aging.  However, scientists now know that most people remain alert and mentally capable as they age.

A lot of people experience memory lapses.  Some memory problems are serious and others are not.  People who have serious changes in their memory, personality, and behavior may suffer from a form of dementia.  Dementia is usually progressive, and it involves functional impairments. This means that persons affected by dementia have difficulty participating in everyday activities.
